Team Jacobs complete ten-year, $100,000 commitment to Sault Area Hospital’s youngest patients

Team Jacobs has a long history of supporting local healthcare. Ten years ago, in 2012, the team made a commitment to their hometown hospital with a $100,000 pledge to support the Women and Children’s Health department. This past July, the local curling legends hit the links for the 10th Annual Team Jacobs Charity Golf Classic, and the proceeds from that tournament have helped them reach their goal.

Representatives from Team Jacobs, Prouse Motors, Sault Area Hospital Foundation, and the Sault Area Hospital Women and Children’s Health Department celebrate the completion of the $100,000 pledge. They are pictured in a birthing room in Sault Area Hospital.

“We’re proud of the partnership we’ve established with Sault Area Hospital Foundation throughout the years,” said Brad Jacobs. “Having toured the department and experienced the services first-hand when my own children were born here, we understand the impact of our donations.”

Over the past decade, funds from the annual tournament have helped purchase vital pieces of equipment for our littlest patients, including an Infant Flow SiPAP System which provides respiratory support for infants, specialized birthing beds to assist with labour and delivery, and a Bili Blanket System for premature babies to name a few.

“This community has always been there for us,” said E.J. Harnden, “so donating the proceeds from our tournament to support this department is a way to say thank you and express our gratitude.”

As the presenting sponsor of this year’s tournament, and a partner throughout the last ten years, Prouse Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac also believes in supporting local healthcare. “We are pleased to work with Team Jacobs and support the Sault Area Hospital Foundation,” said Kerry McMillian, partner Prouse Motors. “Our employees, our customers and their families all use the services at the hospital, so this is a great way to give back and support the Foundation.”

“We appreciate the commitment Team Jacobs has made to support local health care,” said Teresa Martone, Executive Director, Sault Area Hospital Foundation. “Thank you to everyone who has participated and sponsored this tournament throughout the years to help the team fulfill their pledge. I hope efforts of Team Jacobs inspires others to set such goals. Together we can help keep care close to home for everyone in our community.”

Team Jacobs is making outstanding care possible with the proceeds from their annual golf tournament. On behalf of the Sault Area Hospital Foundation’s Board of Directors, staff and all the patients this donation will impact, thank you for caring for Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma District.
