Soo Greyhounds support Cancer Care At Sault Area Hospital

On Saturday, February 18th, The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club played a special “Hockey Fights Cancer” game, presented by Northside Auto Group, when they played against the Erie Otters.

The Hounds wore limited edition Hockey Fights Cancer jerseys, which were auctioned off to support the Sault Area Hospital Foundation’s Cancer Care Fund. Hockey Fights Cancer T-Shirts were also available to purchase, with all proceeds going toward Cancer Care.

Hockey Fights Cancer raised almost $10,000! The funds raised will support the High Breast Screening Program, specifically Dyna Serve which is the software necessary to run the Gamma Camera.

“Having access to local cancer care is critical to so many in our community,” said Teresa Martone, Executive Director, Sault Area Hospital Foundation. “From diagnostics like imaging and lab work, to surgery, to radiation and chemotherapy treatment, to the delivery of custom medications mixed onsite in our pharmacy… the whole hospital is involved in cancer care. This outstanding local care is only possible thanks to critical medical equipment purchased with generous community contributions – like this one from the Soo Greyhounds and their Hockey Fights Cancer initiative.”

Thank you to the Soo Greyhounds and Northside Auto Group for coordinating this amazing event, and supporting Sault Area Hospital Cancer Care.
