On Tuesday, October 31st, Debbie Taanman of Sowerby, ON won a $82,437.50 jackpot in the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) October 50/50 draw. Debbie’s lucky number O-3083421 was drawn electronically, and she was called immediately.
Debbie was beyond elated. “I’m almost in tears because I’m so happy!” Debbie said on the call. Debbie shared that the money will make a huge impact for her and her husband, Bob, who was a cancer patient at the hospital. “SAH helped my husband beat cancer,” she said.
As for plans for the winnings, Debbie shared: “We plan on getting caught up on the bills. My husband went through cancer and had surgery. The Sault hospital was the best place for him. And maybe come summer, we’ll take a mini vacation!”
Debbie wasn’t the only winner this month – October’s Early Bird, Tiago Augusto, of Sault Ste. Marie ON, was the lucky winner of $10,000 on October 18th, with ticket O-3818775.
“It’s a wonderful feeling to see how these lotteries can truly change lives,” said Teresa Martone, Executive Director for Sault Area Hospital Foundation. “In addition to supporting Sault Area Hospital Foundation, they can make a huge difference for the winner. It’s great to see this month’s jackpot go to someone who has a personal connection to SAH.”
