Exciting news! Sault Area Hospital recently acquired a brand new microscope, thanks to the generous support of our donor community. This state-of-the-art equipment brings advanced technology and new capabilities to the Sault Area Hospital Operating Rooms.

The microscope plays a crucial role in procedures like ear surgery, enabling surgeons to make exceptionally precise movements within a confined and fragile area. Notably, the new microscope allows seamless connectivity with high-definition monitors, so that the operating room can observe the surgery in real-time as it progresses.

Candice Brown, RPN, frequently supports Ear, Nose, and Throat surgeries. She explains the positive impact of the new microscope on her role:

“I often work on Ear, Nose, and Throat surgeries with Dr. Rebelo. Before, Dr. Rebelo would be looking through the microscope to operate, but I wouldn’t be able to see what she was doing. So she would describe what she needed,” She shares.

“Now, the whole team can see what Dr. Rebelo is doing on a high-definition screen. It means I can anticipate which tools she will need. It has really helped in my role.”

The new OR microscope is an essential tool for Sault Area Hospital, and it has arrived thanks to the generous support of those passionate about local healthcare. Thank you to everyone who supports SAH Foundation – together, we are making a difference in the lives of those who rely on Sault Area Hospital for their healthcare needs.
