Louise thinks 2022 will be a great year

On December 31st at 11 am, Louise Quesnel of Sudbury, ON won the $199,930 jackpot in the Sault Area Hospital Foundation’s (SAHF) December electronic and online 50/50 draw. Her lucky number (Z-1906531) was drawn electronically.

Louise has been supporting SAHF 50/50 for the past six months, and believes strongly in supporting hospital lotteries. “We’ve always supported hospital lotteries. We love to visit Sault Ste. Marie, and have been purchasing 5 Car Draw tickets for years. It’s just an exciting way to support. It’s so surreal to after all these years to win such a significant prize,” said Louise.

Since November 2019, SAHF 50/50 has raised over $3.1 million for medical equipment purchases at Sault Area Hospital. “We are so proud of how this draw has grown, how long it’s been successful for, and the life changing prizes that have been won,” said Teresa Martone, Executive Director, Sault Area Hospital Foundation. “We also know it’s time to continue to do what we do best; bring new, exciting draws to our faithful supporters. We have worked to develop new lottery plans for 2022. A monthly 50/50 draw will remain, and we’re preparing to deliver additional big prizes, and even more chances to win.”

Sales for the next SAHF 50/50 draw will start January 24th and SAHF will share more details through their email lists, social media and local media leading up to the new draw launch.

One thing that will remain the same about the new SAHF 50/50: it’s a life-changing draw for the winners that continues to provide life-saving equipment for SAH. Thanks to ongoing 50/50 support, proceeds were recently used to purchase over $175,000 in new surgical equipment – including 4 operating tables, and a surgical limb positioner.

Meanwhile, December’s winner, Louise, is excited to use her almost $200,000 jackpot to live debt- and worry-free, and to support her grandson who is going to university. “This has changed our lives. Money has always been a worry, because we [Louise and her husband] are both retired now. We are excited to live the rest of our lives without that stress. This truly is the best start to 2022 that we could have asked for,” said Louise.

Also in December, SAHF awarded Monica Fummerton of Schreiber, ON, $10,000 in the early bird draw. Her lucky number was Z-1237958.

On behalf of the entire community, thank you to all who continue to support. When our hospital purchases equipment like this, we all win.
