Giving back to the communities they serve is a cornerstone of the philosophy at Dawson & Keenan Insurance; and a trait Sault Area Hospital Foundation is celebrating as they complete a $25,000 pledge toward your hospital’s new CT Scanner.
The three year pledge began in 2017 when the CT Scanner was the hospital’s most pressing need. The new scanner was installed in April 2018 and has already performed 18,850 scans, keeping patients local for this crucial procedure. The commitment is now complete but the impact of their gift will continue for the next decade.
“Getting a fast, clear medical image is a critical part of almost every patient’s diagnosis,” said Franci Rogers, Manager of Diagnostic Imaging, Sault Area Hospital. “Every time we replace an aging piece of equipment or upgrade to new technology, we are able to offer new tests, shorten wait times, and deliver outstanding care to more patients; and that matters.”
Large diagnostic imaging equipment typically needs to be replaced every 8-10 years. As the Sault Area Hospital enters into their 8th year at the new hospital site, they estimate needing to replace over $14 million in diagnostic imaging equipment over the next 10 years – including various pieces of MRI, ultrasound and x-ray equipment. Our community purchases this equipment through their generous donations to Sault Area Hospital Foundation.
“This hospital belongs to our community, and it’s our responsibility to take care of it – so it can take care of us when we need it most,” said Teresa Martone, Executive Director, Sault Area Hospital Foundation. “Generous donors like Dawson & Keenan are making it possible to offer the services our community deserves. With every piece of equipment we purchase, together we are proudly keeping our loved ones in Sault Ste. Marie.”
Dawson & Keenan Insurance was founded in Sault Ste. Marie over 100 years ago and is, still to this day, locally owned and operated. Their pride in this community, where their employees, clients and customers live, has driven them to support the Sault Area Hospital for over 30 years now.
“We understand that it’s our responsibility as members of this community to be part of the success of our hospital – and that depends on our caregivers having the technology they need to provide care, here,” said Larry Day, President, Dawson & Keenan. “It’s just natural for a local business, like ours, to support our hospital. We want the best for our hometown and every person that lives here.”
On behalf of the Sault Area Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, Executive Director and Staff, we would like to thank the team at Dawson & Keenan for their continued commitment to the health of Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma District. Thank you for making your hospital a priority!
