Kenny Moore wins $104,787.50 in January 50/50

On January 31st, Kenneth “Kenny” Moore of Cobalt, ON won a $104,787.50 jackpot in the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) January 50/50 draw. His lucky number (JA-2023989) was drawn electronically, and he was contacted that day.

Kenny was at work when SAHF first tried to call him. And call him. And call him! On a 12-hour shift, it was after 5pm by the time he found out, via email, he was over $100,000 richer! He shared the good news with his colleagues, who all congratulated and high-fived him. He wrote back, “No way. You can't believe how happy I am! This is great news.”

Kenny doesn’t have a direct connection to Sault Ste. Marie, but remembers the city fondly from his hockey-playing days. When he saw an ad for the SAHF 50/50, he thought he would try his luck – but didn’t expect to be the winner! Kenny has a piece of property where he has been dreaming of building a cottage. “It was looking like a 5-year plan, but with this – I might be able to start construction this summer!”

Kenny wasn’t the only winner this month, as January’s Early Bird walked away with a $15,000 prize. The winner was Richard Quesnele of Sault Ste. Marie, ON. Richard regularly supports SAHF through the SAHF lotteries, and was one of the lucky grand prize winners of the 5 Car Draw in 2022!

“The real winner this month is the Laboratory at SAH” said Teresa Martone, Executive Director for Sault Area Hospital Foundation. “Proceeds from the past few months have helped purchase several new refrigerators for our lab. Unlike the one in your kitchen, these medical-grade units store samples, blood products, and substances needed to run critical lab tests. Thank you to our many 50/50 buyers for supporting this critical equipment for our lab!”

Tickets for SAHF’s February 50/50 draw are on sale now, and an early ticket purchase could win you $15,000 on the 15th! Get your tickets before 2pm on February 15th for a chance to win the $15,000 early bird prize – plus every ticket has a chance at the growing jackpot.
