On December 30th, Floricel Bahay of Sault Ste. Marie, ON won a $139,492.50 jackpot in the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) December 50/50 draw. Her lucky number (DC-2675054) was drawn electronically, and she was contacted immediately.
When she got the call, Floricel (who goes by “Flora”) was at work as a Dietary Aide at a local long term care home. While she plays the SAHF 50/50 regularly, she could barely believe her luck when she found out she’d won almost $140,000! “Everyone at work was congratulating me and hugging me! They even announced it to the residents, and they clapped for me. It’s been so exciting,” said Flora.
Originally from the Philippines, Flora hasn’t been able to travel home in over 5 years. She plans to use her winnings to take a family trip back to the Philippines this summer, she’ll put some aside for her son’s education, and she’s going to treat herself to a new car.
Floricel wasn’t the only winner this month, as December’s Early Bird walked away with a $15,000 prize. The winner was Scott Thibeault of Sault Ste. Marie, ON. Scott plays the SAHF 50/50 with his family.

Tickets for SAHF’s January 50/50 draw are on sale now, and an early ticket purchase could win you $15,000 to start the new year off right! Get your tickets before 2pm on January 18th for a chance to win the $15,000 early bird prize – plus every ticket has a chance at the growing jackpot.
Tickets are 10 for $10; 60 for $20; 200 for $40; or 750 for $75. In addition to online sales at
www.soolottery.ca, tickets can be purchased in person at the Sault Area Hospital Foundation Office (750 Great Northern Road) from 8:00am-4:30pm, Tuesday through Thursday. Ticket buyers must be 18 years of age or older and in the province of Ontario to play.
