For over 30 years, Brookfield Renewable has demonstrated their commitment to the health of our community through their support of Sault Area Hospital Foundation. This year, they’ve made a pledge to give $50,000 over two years – bringing their total giving to over $900,000 in the past three decades.
Brookfield’s pledge is not tied to one specific area of the hospital – but will be used to help support the purchase of equipment across all departments of the hospital.

Sault Area Hospital Foundation is grateful for every donation we receive, but unrestricted gifts like the one from Brookfield Renewable are especially important in meeting the needs of our hospital. Many may not understand that our community buys the equipment in our hospital through their generous donations. Unrestricted dollars are often the first to be put to use for the most urgent needs, helping ensure our caregivers have the tools they need to provide care in our community.

While Brookfield Renewable’s past gifts have helped to purchase critical equipment for SAH’s lab, telemedicine and diagnostic imaging programs, their decision to not restrict their gift this year comes from their love for Sault Ste. Marie.
“We had to step back and say, ‘what’s best for this community, our coworkers and their families, our neighbours, and our friends?’ Ensuring Sault Area Hospital can take care of as many patients as possible; well, that was the answer” says Jim Deluzio.
