Cheryl Pavoni, Executive Director

Having worked for the Foundation since 1988, in all areas of fundraising, Cheryl is the veteran of the team. As the Executive Director, she is responsible for developing, implementing and managing a comprehensive development program that ensures the Foundation maximizes its fundraising potential. In 2007, Cheryl, along with the Foundation team and an enthusiastic group of volunteers, completed the largest fundraising campaign the city of Sault Ste. Marie & District has ever seen raising close to $30 million to equip the new Hospital. Cheryl is very proud to have been part of this legacy that will live on for generations to come. Cheryl has been volunteering for the SSM Lion’s Club since 2013 and chairs the Public Relations Committee.”



Giselle Chiarello, Major Gifts/Planned Giving Officer

As Major Gifts/Gift Planning Officer, Giselle maintains and implements a comprehensive and successful major gifts and planned giving program to raise funds to purchase medical equipment for our Hospital, which benefits patients, physicians and clinical staff.  She has been a member of the team since 2000.  Giselle is a proud Kiwanian of the Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore currently serving as Club Secretary.  She is also very proud of the Aktion Club of Lakeshore, a new service club for adults living with disabilities which she was influential in developing.



Melissa Watson, Annual Giving Officer

In her current position as the Annual Giving Officer, Melissa will implement and maintain a comprehensive and successful annual giving program for the Foundation.   She will continue her role of overseeing the tribute and donor recognition programs with recognition opportunities to donors, through the Beacon of Hope & Celebration of Life Recognition walls, Room Recognition and the most recent launch of the Garden of Remembrance recognition wall. Melissa has held various roles as administrative and financial support to the Executive Director and administrative support to the Foundation Board of Directors.  Melissa has been a member of the team since 1998. 


Christine Briglio 

Christie Briglio, Database Coordinator

In June of 2011, Christie joined the Foundation team as Data Base Coordinator.  In her new role, Christie is responsible for data entry, maintenance and integrity of the Foundations donor records along with the related accounting functions.  Christie brings many years of experience in both the accounting and social service fields.  Her passion for social issues lead her to be a part of the founding members of Breaking Away, a Life Skills Program for Adults with Developmental Disabilities and sit as the first President of the Board of Directors for the organization.  Christie takes great pride in the continued growth and accomplishments of Breaking Away and its amazing students.  


Logan Costa 

Logan Costa, Development & Communications Officer

Originally from Schreiber Ontario, Logan travelled to Sault Ste. Marie to attend Algoma University. He graduated with a B.A. with Honours in Law & Justice and History in 2009. Shortly after Logan returned to school, this time at Sault College, and obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Public Relations and Event Management. Logan has been a part of the community of Sault Ste. Marie since 2005 and calls it home. Using what he has learned in education, while continuing to learn here at the Sault Area Hospital Foundation, Logan hopes to help make a difference being part of the SAHF team. Logan was added to the team full-time as Development & Communications Officer in 2015.



Katelin Soltys, Administrative / Development Assistant

In September 2015, Katelin joined the SAH Foundation team. Katelin had spent the last two years working as program assistant for Northern College in the remote community of Moosonee, ON. Katelin is thrilled to be returning to her hometown of Sault Ste. Marie, obtaining the position of Administrative / Development Assistant within the Foundation. Having graduated with honours from Algoma University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in Accounting, she looks forward to using her education and experience to help achieve the Foundation's goals moving forward.
