Have you been in an accident and required immediate medical attention? Has your friend or loved one been diagnosed with cancer? Has your child suffered from appendicitis? In any one of these situations, a CT scan was likely utilized for timely diagnosis and treatment.
It is only because of the generous donations provided by individuals such as yourself that the Sault Area Hospital has the equipment necessary to perform outstanding, patient-centred healthcare services for Sault Ste. Marie and area. As the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) is the primary source of funding for capital equipment for the Hospital, it relies on financial support from the people and organizations of our community and outside Sault Ste. Marie.
We currently have over $3.6 million in critical equipment needs for areas including Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency, Operating Room, and Renal Dialysis. One piece in particular that is considered a priority is the Computerized Tomography (CT) scanner.
One of the CT scanners currently used by the Sault Area Hospital is outdated and soon will no longer be operational. The CT scanner is a key medical tool required in the diagnostic imaging department, but we need your help to ensure that our community continues to have access to this state-of-the-art equipment. Replacing this scanner is key to ensuring wait times do not increase and that the equipment is always available to provide necessary testing.
Here at Sault Area Hospital, we use this modality on a continual basis. Ensuring SAH has the most up-to-date in CT Scan technology expedites treatment of injured or critically ill patients entering the Emergency Department. The ED is exceedingly dependent on fast, efficient and high resolution images to handle the increasing volumes of patients being treated.

It is crucial to ensure our loved ones have access to healthcare close to home, thus it is pertinent that a new CT scanner is purchased as soon as possible. This priority technology is costing the Sault Area Hospital $1.9 million to replace and it is only with you as a part of our Sault Area Hospital Foundation family that we can make this goal a reality.
Please consider healthcare in our community a priority and give a gift to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation. With your support, our Hospital will continue to exceed patient expectations and offer exceptional healthcare to the families of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District.
On behalf of our patients today, tomorrow, and in the future, we thank you for your kindness and generosity. Your commitment to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation makes it possible to look forward to a healthier tomorrow. Together, we make a difference.
